Description

Infrared sensor used for remote control signal receiving or IR intrusion sensing. Will demodulate the signal from a 38kHz carrier.

Also called: infrared receiver, remote receiver, KY022.

Found in kits: 20 sensors, 37 sensors, 45 sensors.

Specification/Notes:

• Voltage: 3.3V to 5.0V
• Current: 25mA max typical
• LED: Power
• IR wavelength: 825-940nm
• Demodulated frequency: 38,000 Hz (Some 37-40kHz)
• Signal levels: Normally high, low on detection of modulated IR.
• Range: up to 15 meters (45 feet) with a 90° angle
• Size: 20mm X 15mm
• Shielded package.
• Main component: VS1838B
• Infrared light is outside of the normal light "color" detectable by the human eye.

There are a number of different sources for these modules. Not every module that looks similar to the ones here behaves exactly the same. Check the specific module that you have for differences in function, voltage levels, pinout, and inactive/active states. Some modules have been found to have incorrectly labeled pins and even poorly soldered components.

This sensor will demodulate a remote control’s signal. It removes the 38kHz carrier signal and will pulse out the remote/button encoding.

Modules with an onboard LED will pulse the LED at the rate that the IR signal is decoded.
